About the Role:
Blue Ox Transport Inc. is looking for a skilled and self-driven Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of 16 semi-truck tractors. You’ll work on industry-leading equipment across brands like Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Volvo, Cummins, and CAT, handling diagnostics, repairs, preventive maintenance, and occasional emergency call-outs.
Position Details:
Location: 400 11th Ave S, Hopkins, MN 55343
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
(Includes 30–45-minute unpaid lunch break)
Pay Range: $27 – $42/hour
(Competitive wages based on certifications and experience)
Compensation & Benefits:
Paid Time Off: 48 hours annually
Retirement Plan Options
$2,000 Sign-On Bonus:
$1,000 at 90 days
$1,000 at 6 months (12-month commitment required)
$1,500 Annual Retention Bonus (after 1 year of service)
Emergency Call-Out Bonus:
$75 flat rate + hourly wage from departure to return for off-hours repairs
Certification Reimbursement & Bonus:
Earn bonuses for new diesel certifications
Company assists with certification costs (ASE, Cummins, etc.)
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems
Conduct DOT-compliant preventive maintenance inspections
Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot mechanical issues
Keep detailed records of work performed and parts used
Support inventory management and ordering of parts/supplies
Provide occasional on-call emergency repair support
Required Qualifications:
2+ years of hands-on diesel mechanic experience
ASE Certifications required (Medium/Heavy Truck Series preferred)
EPA 609 refrigerant certification
Manufacturer certifications (e.g., Cummins, Detroit Diesel) a plus
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
Strong time management and task prioritization skills
Physically able to lift heavy parts and work in various conditions
Detail-oriented with good organizational habits
Preferred Qualifications:
Class A CDL (Not required but beneficial for test drives or moving units)
